WAILUKU, Maui, Hawai‘i – The County of Maui Department of Planning today announced a series of public meetings on its project to replace the County’s paper zoning maps with a digital version. The old paper zoning maps will be replaced with accurate and current digital maps, which will help correct inconsistencies and errors.
Approximately 830 property owners are receiving postcards from the Department of Planning to inform them that their properties may be affected. The proposed changes will correct old errors and should not be noticeable in any way.
The public is invited to attend and offer testimony at the following community meetings, which are scheduled for 5:30 pm at the following days/locations:
• KIHEI: Tuesday, March 21 — Kihei Community Center, 303 E. Lipoa St.
• WAILUKU: Tuesday, March 28 — Velma Santos Community Center, 395 Waena Place
• LAHAINA: Tuesday, April 4 — West Maui Senior Center, 788 Pauoa St.
• PUKALANI: Wednesday, April 12 — Hannibal Tavares Community Center, 91 Pukalani St.
More information is available online at www.mauicounty.gov/Planning (in the “Hot Topics” section). Property owners may also call (808) 270-6272 or email DSSRT@mauicounty.gov to ask specific questions.
The new map for the island of Maui will be reviewed by the Maui Planning Commission later this year, and then by the County Council before it is adopted.
