DWS has awarded grants to nine (9) Watershed Protection Grants Program Grantees on Maui and Molokai to ensure upland watersheds are fully functioning so fresh water resources can be utilized and enjoyed by the people of Hawaii in perpetuity.
Since 1997, the DWS has provided $16.5 million dollars of funding to a total of 54 partners. The partners represent a diverse group from the private and business sectors, nonprofit organizations, schools and various levels of government. This report contains information submitted by each of the Watershed Partnerships addressing how they have spent the county grant funds and what the results have been.
The Department of Water Supply is now accepting watershed protection grant proposals for fiscal year 2018. Proposal deadline is August 29, 2016.
